Publishing System Specialist – Career Opportunity – New York City

The Position :
 
The  Publishing System Specialist is primarily responsible for maintaining various key components within the XML publishing environment. This entails installing, and maintaining Arbortext document types DTDs (Document Type Definition), Stylesheet files (.STYLE Files, XSLT) and configuration files; developing a clear methodology for creation and maintenance of Stylesheets and DTDs; updating and managing the Document Model Report; supporting any custom applications created as part of the Arbortext Product Series; maintaining all customizations to the Arbortext Product Suite (Editor, Link Manager, CMS, Publishing Engine) to improve authoring productivity. Developing and/or maintaining administrative and/or user documentation. 
 

Requirements :  The degree in Computer Science and a minimum of 3 years experience working in an XML/CMS publishing environment in a development position, or 7 years experience working in an XML/CMS publishing environment in a development position.  Strong working knowledge of content management essential.  Troubleshoot a wide variety of data and document management problems. Requirements include a thorough understanding of XML and XML concepts and syntax; understanding of DTD syntax; understanding of Content Management Systems; knowledge of web services; understanding of Databases (specifically SQL or equivalent); understanding the basics of XSL (XSLT and XSLFO); understanding of Java. Excellent communication (both written and verbal), and analytical skills. The following would be very helpful - understanding of Arbortext Command Language (ACL) and/or Perl; programming knowledge; thorough knowledge and understanding of the overall new XML based publishing system (ExStyles, MathType, Arbortext Editor, Link Manager, Arbortext Content Management System, Arbortext Publishing Engine) – touch points between modules; thorough knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and general knowledge of computer hardware.

Our client is seeking an experience researcher with investment banking / business focus.  Knowledge of various industries such as healthcare, medial, telecommunications is essential.  Are you a strong financial /business generalist?
 
Requirements:Available for several weeks starting immediately.  Several years of research experience, preferably in an investment bank or business environment is required.  Knowledge of and ability to search the following online databases and research tools:  Thomson Research, Lexis-Nexis, SDC, Dialog, Reuters-Multex and One Source and Bloomberg.

CATALOG LIBRARIAN – ACADEMIC – BOSTON AREA
Long Term Temporary Position – 15 hrs/wk flexible

 
The Catalog Librarian, with the Head of Technical Services, works to ensure the timely and accurate incorporation of materials into the collection as well as the overall quality of the online catalog.  This is a long-term assignment.  
 
THE POSITION
-- Perform some original and mainly copy cataloging of all formats acquired by the library, according to established standards.

-- Share responsibility for database maintenance including loading, updating, editing and deleting of catalog records.

-- Work collegially with all library staff.

-- Other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: Thorough knowledge and experience in the use and application of cataloging tools and standards including OCLC, AACR2, LCSH, LC classification, LC rule interpretations and MARC21; proficient in the use of automated library systems (iii Millennium   strongly preferred); awareness of current trends and issues in cataloging; ability to work both independently  and cooperatively; and general familiarity and facility with technology in a Windows environment. This library is a participant in the NOBLE Network.
